The President and members of the leadership team of the Good Governance Studies Institute–Organization (GGSIO) held a formal meeting with Mr. Shamim Khan Katawazi, Head of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG).
During the meeting, Mr. Ahmad Etemadi, Executive Director of GGSIO, presented the Institute’s strategic plans and policy proposals aimed at strengthening local governance structures and promoting good governance principles at the subnational level.
The discussions focused on institutional reform, capacity enhancement within local administrations, and the development of research-based policy frameworks to improve administrative effectiveness and public service delivery.
Mr. Katawazi welcomed the establishment and activities of research and policy-oriented institutions working in the field of governance. He expressed his commitment to reviewing the proposed initiatives and assessing their potential for implementation within the local governance framework.
Both parties also exchanged views on establishing long-term institutional cooperation in the area of local governance reform and capacity development.
This engagement reflects GGSIO’s ongoing efforts to bridge research, policy development, and public administration practice in support of effective and accountable local governance across Afghanistan.
