Peacebuilding Awareness Workshop Conducted for Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs

Kabul, Afghanistan

The Good Governance Studies Institute–Organization (GGSIO), through its Department of Peace and Security Studies and in collaboration with the State Ministry for Peace, conducted a one-day Peacebuilding Awareness Workshop for staff members of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

The workshop was held at the Ministry’s headquarters and facilitated by Mr. Abdulnasir Folad, Peace Master Trainer and Conflict Resolution Specialist. Dozens of ministry staff members participated in the program.

Institutional Commitment to Sustainable Peace

In the opening session, Dr. Mirwais Sargand, Director of Coordination with Security, Civil Institutions and Prison Affairs at the State Ministry for Peace, provided an overview of the Ministry’s national peacebuilding initiatives and highlighted the importance of institutional cooperation in advancing sustainable peace.

Mr. Ahmad Etemadi, Executive Director of GGSIO, addressed the participants on the critical link between good governance and sustainable, inclusive peace. He emphasized that strengthening governance standards, accountability, and institutional capacity is essential for long-term stability. He reaffirmed GGSIO’s continued commitment to educational and research-based peacebuilding initiatives across public institutions.

Representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs expressed their readiness to support peacebuilding efforts and confirmed their commitment to cooperation with the State Ministry for Peace and GGSIO.

Technical Session: Conflict Analysis and Institutional Role in Peacebuilding

During the technical segment, Mr. Abdulnasir Folad facilitated an interactive and participatory session covering:

  • Conceptual frameworks of conflict and violence
  • Stakeholder analysis in conflict environments
  • Sustainable peacebuilding approaches
  • Empathy and social cohesion
  • Regional and international strategic dimensions of Afghanistan’s peace process
  • The role of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in supporting peacebuilding through social protection, employment programs, and community stability

The workshop concluded with active engagement from participants and reinforced the importance of mainstreaming peacebuilding principles within government ministries.

This initiative forms part of GGSIO’s broader institutional Peacebuilding Program, which is being implemented periodically across national ministries to strengthen governance capacity and promote conflict-sensitive public administration throughout Afghanistan.
