Kabul, Afghanistan | June 25, 2020
On Thursday, June 25, 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed between the Kabul Governor’s Office and the Good Governance Studies Institute–Organization (GGSIO) at Darul Aman Palace.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Mohammad Yaqoob Haidari, Governor of Kabul and Chair of the Provincial Committee for COVID-19 Response, and Mr. Ahmad Etemadi, Executive Director of GGSIO, marking the beginning of a structured institutional partnership.
According to Mr. Etemadi, the purpose of the agreement is to establish close cooperation between the Kabul Governor’s Office and GGSIO in the following areas:
- Joint development of research, policy, and governance proposals
- Implementation of collaborative educational and analytical programs
- Support for internship and research initiatives related to local governance in Kabul
- Strengthening engagement between the Governor’s Office, research institutions, and civil society organizations
Governor Haidari emphasized the important role of research and educational institutions in improving governance standards, enhancing administrative efficiency, and increasing the effectiveness of public service delivery. He called for stronger collaboration between governmental bodies and research institutions to promote evidence-based policy development and institutional reform.
This MoU reflects GGSIO’s commitment to fostering institutional partnerships that bridge research, policy, and governance practice, contributing to sustainable improvements in local governance in Afghanistan.
